Paint Shop Pro - My translations - Zen (valyscrappassion)

 

This tutorial is a personal creation from Valérie Savary, better known as

valyscrappassion.com.

This tutorial was made in 2026 with an earlier PSP version.  I have used PSP9 to make my translation; you can follow this tutorial with any other versions of PSP, but the interface of the images from this tutorial as well as your result might be slightly different.  Download the zip file containing the materials, decompress, copy the originals and close them.  Work with the copies, you could need the intact originals later on, if you encounter problems with your PSP.  Also, save your work often as pspimage (with all the layers) for the same reasons.  For fonts and presets, double-click on them and they will install themselves.

For gradients, selections, textures, etc, simply place in your appropriate 'My PSP Files' folders.

The masks used in this tutorial are already in the alpha layer.

In Filters Unlimited 2.0:
Emboss - Emboss Greyscale
Kang 1 - Ben-Wah's Sister
Kang 2, Keep Color invert light
Kang 3 - Liquid you too
Mock - Windo
Paper textures

To import in Filters Unlimited 2.0, go to Effects - Plugins - Filters Unlimited 2.0 and click on Import at the bottom of the window, then browse to the file furnished in the Materials and select Emboss.ffx file.  It should now appear in the list of the plugins.

 

Colors
Foreground color 1 #9ca35e
Background color 2 #f5ecd3
Additional color 3 #d1d0cc
Additional color 4 #ffffff

Open the alpha layer Alpha-Zen-VSP furnished in the Materials,
Window - Duplicate
Close the original (you could need it later on) and work on the duplicate.
Flood fill with the radial gradient Dégradé Zen-VSP

but click in the Edit box and make these adjustments since the
ones that you previously made will still be there

and when PSP asks you if you accept the changes, click 'yes'.

Effects - Reflections - Reflecting Mirror

 

Effects - Plugins - Filters Unlimited 2.0 - Kang 3 - Liquid you too
with these settings:

 

Effects - Filters Unlimited 2.0  - Kang 2 - Keep Color-invert Light

 

Adjust - Blur - Motion blur

 

Effects - Plugins - Filters Unlimited 2.0 - Paper textures - Canvas - Fine

Effects - Reflecting effects - Rotating mirror
Rotation angle at 180

 

Effects - Plugins - Mock - Windo

Layers - Load/Save Mask - From Alpha Channel 

and select  Mask_Geometric_3_GB*

 Layers - Merge Group

Selections - Load/Save from Alpha Channel - Selection 1

Edit - Copy
Return to your image on the alpha channel
Layer - New raster layer
Edit - Copy in the selection
Selections - Select none

Activate raster 2 in your layers palette (in the middle)
Selections - Load/Save - From the Alpha Channel - Selection 2

 Selections - Promote selection to layer
Selections - Select none
Effects - Plugins - Filters Unlimited 2.0 - Paper textures - Cotton paper, fine

Highlight the top layer (Raster 2)
Open the wordart furnished in the Materials
Edit - Copy
Back to your image
Reload the Selection 2 in the alpha channel
Edit - Paste as a new raster layer
Resize at 55%
Using the Pick tool (type letter K), change the settings to
Horizontal Position: 178
Vertical Position: 46

 

Type on the letter M to deselect the Pick tool
Effects - Plugins - Filters Unlimited 2.0 - Emboss - Grayscale
128 / 0

Layers - New raster layer
Flood fill with white #ffffff
Layers - Load/Save mask from Alpha channel - Narah_Mask_0546

Layers - Duplicate
Layers - Merge - Merge group
Make this layer with Blend Mode at Luminance Legacy

Highlight the bottom raster layer (Raster 1)
Layers - Duplicate
Effects - Plugins - Filters Unlimited 2.0 - Kang 1 - Ben-Wah's Sister

 Properties of this layer: Blend mode at Multiply and Opacity at 20%

 Now, your palette looks like this:

and your image like this:

Highlight the top raster layer (Group Raster 4)
Selections - Load/Save selection from the alpha channel - Selection #3

 Effects - 3D effects - Drop shadow using Foreground color #9ca35e
and checking for the Shadow on the new layer

then remake this Drop shadow with the negative settings

 Keep the selection active

Highlight the bottom raster layer (Raster 1)
Selections - Promote selection to raster layer
Layers - Arrange - Bring to top
Effects - Plugins - Alien Skin Eye Candy Impact 5 - Glass - Preset Glass-Zen-VSP

or if you cannot add the preset in your Eye Candy Impact 5, use the settings:

 Selections - Select None
Layers - Merge - Merge visible

Sign your creation and save it in a jpg or
File - Export - As a JPEG Optimized image
